Glenfiddich Finest Solera - Cask Collection

A pretty snazzy release from Glenfiddich’s Cask Collection, Finest Solera was originally released for travel retail. It’s matured in American oak bourbon casks, which are then married in a Portuguese oak solera tun (which can hold up to 20 of these casks). Different casks are selected to for each batch (so no two are ever the same), and malt master Brian Kinsman ensures the tun always remains at least half full. Less than 1,000 bottles are produced each batch, and what’s more, each decanter is hand-blown and individually numbered, and comes complete with a very fancy presentation box.

Glen Grant 1995 23 Year Old Collective 2.3

Part of the Artist Collection from La Maison du Whisky, this 1995-vintage Glen Grant was matured in ex-bourbon barrels for 23 years before being bottled in 2018. Soft aromas of vanilla, camphor, coconut, clove and ginger fill the nose, alongside chamomile, lemon zest and garden herbs. The palate offers malty notes of pears, Mirabelle plums, apples, vanilla and cinnamon, before clean, herbal flavours of fennel and aniseed.

The Artist Collective series features the works of contemporary artists on the bottles, this 1995 Glen Grant features a piece entitled ‘Sedia A Sdraio’ by Bernardino Luino.
