The second bottling in the John Walker & Sons Private Collection series, continuing the themes of the incredibly limited Directors’ Collection and offering these small batch editions of Johnnie Walker to a wider audience. This edition, titled ‘Rare Fruit Character’, focuses on the fruity flavours within the Johnnie Walker range, with the 29 casks that make up the blend chosen to emphasise that part of the classic Walker character.

A sweet, elegant single malt from Glengoyne that has spent a quarter of a century in specially-selected ex-sherry casks. Glenfarclas 1959 60 Year Old Sherry Cask

A 1959 Glenfarclas single malt matured in a single ex-sherry hogshead for six decades before being bottled in November 2019 in a bespoke hand-made Glencairn crystal decanter. Rich aromas of Christmas cake, orange, cinnamon and dark chocolate fill the nose, complemented by notes of Christmas pudding and brandy butter, clove, nutmeg and orange throughout the palate.

Chichibu 2013 Sherry Oloroso Cask Velier 70th Anniversary

A 2013 Chichibu single malt, matured in a first-fill sherry hogshead before being bottled in 2017 in celebration of bottler Velier’s 70th anniversary. This limited-edition bottle features Japanese calligraphy artist Jun Inoue’s painting The Red Point on its label.

Caol Ila 1979 40 Year Old Xtra Old Particular

A 1979 Caol Ila single malt from indie bottler Douglas Laing, matured in a single refill hogshead for four decades, before being bottled in November 2019 as part if its Xtra Old Particular series. Maritime aromas of seaweed, damp driftwood and ashy smoke fill the nose, complemented by chimney soot, iodine, sweet barley and rich peat smoke throughout the palate.
